OBCs stage dharna to press caste wise census and other demands.

Gadchiroli Feb. 21 (District Correspondent) A dharna protest was held in front of the District Collector’s Office here on Thursday by Rashtriya OBC Mahasangha to press various demands of the OBCs.

A large number of OBC, VJ, NT and SBC community members joined this agitation and raised slogans in support of their demands. National Working President of the OBC Federation Prof. Sheshrao Yelekar, District President Dadaji Chudhri, Prof. Devanand Kamdi, Pandurang Ghotekar, District General Secretary Suresh Bhandekar, Dr. Suresh Ladke, Chandrakant Shivnkar, Shankar Chaudhary, Sudhir Rohankar, Youth President Rahul Bhandekar, Women President Mangala Karekar, Santoshi Sutrapawar, Employees Federation’s  Vilas Maske, Harshalata Yelmule, Ghanshyam Jakkulwar and many other office bearers of the Mahasangha participated in the agitation.

A memorandum addressed to the Prime minister and chief Minister was submitted to the District Collector. The main demands included- caste-wise survey should be conducted in the state on the land of Bihar, OBC should be recruited in 17 category posts of Class 3 and Class 4 in the Scheduled Areas, the amount of “Gyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhar Yojana” should be deposited in the account of OBC, VJNT students immediately, 100 percent scholarship should be given to OBC students, Mahajyoti’s division wise offices should be started, for higher education abroad as well as for the educational loan, income limit of Rs. 8 lakhs be cancelled, reservation should be implemented for the OBC community under the MHADA and CIDCO schemes.

The other demands included- separate ministry should be established for OBCs, income limit of creamy layer should be increased to Rs. 15 lakhs, funds should be made available to OBCs in proportion to population, 50% reservation limit should be abolished, 27 percent reservation should be implemented for OBCs in the political field by amending Article 243 D (6) and Article 243 T (6) of the Constitution.
