Gadchiroli Dec. 29 (District Correspondent) The ‘National Human Rights Organization’, a social organization of the district has demanded that the district of Gadchiroli be divided into two parts and Aheri be given the status of a separate district in order to achieve the development of the southern part of the district.  With this, the demand to divide Gadchiroli district into Aheri district has once again come to fore which is being made for the last 15 to 20 years.

A meeting of the organization was held recently at Aheri under the chairmanship of the regional president Pranay Khune in which a resolution regarding this issue was passed.  Vidarbha president Javed Ali, district president Ramesh Adhikari, taluka president Farooq Sheikh, district secretary Ratan Durge along with Mahesh Alone, Suresh Durge, Roshan Syed, Milind Alone, Amol Alone, Deepak Gurnule, Nagesh Torem, Anil Pardhi, Ramdas Ondre were prominently present in the meeting. A memorandum was then sent to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in this regard.

Since the distance from Sironcha to Gadchiroli is 220 km, the citizens have to bear a lot of hardship to travel to and from the district headquarters. Due to very bad roads, the citizens of Sironcha have to take a ferry from other states to reach Gadchiroli. It is therefore very necessary to create a separate district of Aheri to achieve overall and speedy development of Aheri area along with solving the problems of the region, said Pranay Khune and others in the memorandum.
