‘Muktipath Marathon’ organized for de- addiction awareness.

Gadchiroli Sept. 23 (District Correspondent) A ‘Muktipath Marathon’ competition was organized at village Delanwadi in Armori taluka in association with village committee and Muktipath Project the other day.

“Let’s run for freedom from alcohol and tobacco” was the main theme of this competition. The youth, women and men of the village should come together to free the village from the sale of alcohol and tobacco was its objective.  A total of 52 people including women, youth and men participated in the competition.

The competition was started by lighting the alcohol-free torch by Dispute Free Village Committee President Harbaji Ghodmare. All contestants and villagers present took a pledge to be free from alcohol and tobacco. This competition was conducted in four groups.

A total of 52 contestants participated in this competition. Meanwhile, three winners were selected from all the four groups and the winners were felicitated. On this occasion, medal and certificate signed by the District Collector and Dr. Abhay Bang, a book of songs on the subject of de-addiction, were given to the winners.

Meanwhile, a meeting was organized in the Gram Panchayat Hall after the competition in which the function and purpose of Muktipatha was explained. It was appealed that the youth, women and men should take the initiative to make the village alcohol and tobacco free.

Also, Taluka Organizer of Desaiganj Bharti Upadhyay appealed the people to work together with Muktipath. Mr. Vinod Kohpare, Anup Nandgirwar, Pallavi Meshram and Sushma Wasnik took pains for the success of the programme. The men and women of the village showed up in large numbers to watch the competition and gave a spontaneous response
