Gadchiroli Sept. 11 (District Correspondent) More than 400 employees belonging to different government departments in the district have launched ‘indefinite no -work agitation’ since Wednesday to press the demand of issuing them regular orders and give the status of government employees.
The employees were appointed on Oct. 5, 2024 on 9 different cadres on purely honorarium basis including Talathi, Health Worker, Gram Sewak, Anganwadi Supervisor, Livestock Supervisor, Forest Guard and Teachers. They are being given one day break as they have completed 11 months of their services. This will cause severe loss to their career as their services will not be counted. The government should therefore issue the fresh appointment orders as regular employees and remove this injustice, demanded the employees in a press conference at the Press Club here this afternoon.
In fact, our recruitment was done as per the 2019 notification of the Governor regarding filling up the posts in PESA areas. As some people approached the court, the General Administration department of the issued regular orders to the candidates in non-PESA area and did an injustice with the candidates applying for the PWSA areas, without any directives of the court. On pressing up the matter, they were issued orders on honorarium basis. This is a clear-cut injustice on the PESA candidates, told Mr. Chetan Madavi, Advisor of the Adiwasi PESA Employees Association.
In want of regular appointments, these employees have been facing several problems related to their service such as salary, leaves and other facilities. The employees working in PESA areas should therefore be issued orders as the regular employees and this injustice and partiality should be removed, demanded Madavi. He warned to launch dharna agitation in front of the collector’s office if such orders are not issued within the next three days.
Also present at the press conference were Swspnil Madavi, district president of the Association, Nitesh Kowe, Ms. Vishakha Usendi, Swapnil Usendi and many other employees.
It should be mentioned here that the contract employees of the National Health mission had also launched the similar indefinite no-work agitation since August 19 last which was ended on Sept. 10 following the assurance of the health minister. The patients in the district had to suffer a lot due to that agitation.
