Gadchiroli Jan. 4 (District Correspondent) Vijay Wadettiwar Fans Club has organized ‘Gadchiroli Premier League’ (GPL) cricket tournament from Jan. 19 next on the District Stadium here. This is the 8 th season of the GPL.
Well known cricketer Mhd. Azharuddin will inaugurate the tournament while senior congress leader and former leader of opposition Vijay Wadettiwar will be the chief guest. This was informed by Mr. Bandubhau Shaniware, Chief of the Fans Club in a press conference here this afternoon.
As many as 7 teams from across the district will participate in this tournament which include Wadsa Wonders, Ramnagar Rpyals, Sunrisers Gadchiroli, Super Strikers, Gadchiroli Lions, Doctor’s Eleven and Akshay Warriors. These teams have been sponsored by the different groups of businessmen, contractors, doctors and others from the district.
The first prize of Rs. 5 lakhs, second prize of Rs. 3 lakhs and third one of Rs. 1 lakh has been declared by the organizers besides individual prizes amounting to Rs. 2 lakhs, it was informed.
The lodging and boarding arrangements of the participating players will be made by the organizers. The tournament will continue for at least 15 days. Well known anchors have been invited for the running commentary. The entire matches will be shown live on U Tube and the cricket lovers all over the world will be able to watch them, it was further told.
Present at the press conference were Adv. Ram Meshram, Rakesh Nagre, Ajay Tummawar, Manish guddewar, Manoj Deshmukh, Prashant Racchawar, Rahul Barsagade, Atul Jagnade and Sachin Madavi.
