Medical Officer of Laheri arrested for demanding bribe of Rs. 1.30 lakhs.

Gadchiroli March 27 (District Correspondent) A medical officer of a primary health centre has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding a bribe of Rs 1.30 lakh from his own employee to sign a no-dues certificate to clear the withheld supplementary salary bill. Dr. Sambhaji Bhokre (36) is the name of the said Medical Officer.

According to ACB, Dr. Bhokre had demanded a bribe of Rs. 1.50 lakhs from an employee working in his office. After a compromise, he agreed to take Rs 1.30 lakh. The said employee however complained the matter to the ACB upon which a trap was laid and the doctor was finally arrested. This is the first time that the ACB has taken such a bold action in a remote area of ​​Bhamragad taluka.

Dr. Bhokare has been working as a Class-1 Medical Officer in a Primary Health Centre in the remote and Naxal-affected Laheri village of Bhamragad taluka. His certificate as the head of the office was required for the supplementary bill of the withheld salary of an employee under him for the months of September 2024 and November. For this, Dr. Bhokre demanded the bribe. Accordingly, the ACB team verified the demand for bribe on February 3 and March 25. After that, Dr. Bhokre was taken into custody.

This operation was carried out under the supervision of ACB DYSP Chandrashekhar Dhole by Inspector Santosh Patil, Inspector Shivaji Rathod, Constables Sunil Peddiwar, Rajesh Padmagiriwar, Kishore Jaunjarkar, Swapnil Bambole, Sandeep Udan, Sandeep Ghormode, Praveen Jumnake, Hitesh Jettiwar, Vidya Mhashakhetri, Jyotsna Vasake, Driver Rajeshwar Kumre and others.
