Gadchiroli Dec. 21 (District Correspondent) The prize distribution ceremony of Natyashri Sahitya Kala Manch’s ‘Mahamrityunjaya Vangmay Puraskar’ was held at the auditorium of the District Central Cooperative Bank here recently.
Well-known writer and journalist Dr. Mohan Khadse presided over the programme while writer Yatin Samant from Bangalore, Mr. Milind Umre, Prof. Janabandhu Meshram, Dada Chudhari and playwright Chudaram Balharpure were prominently present.
On behalf of Natyashri, a ‘Mahamrityunjaya Vand.may Puraskar’ was recently organized for Marathi writers. A total of 345 writers from Maharashtra and out of Maharashtra participated in this competition. Out of them 36 writers were selected for the award after their examination by the expert litterateurs. The winners were honoured with cash, medals, certificates, books, shawls and coconuts at the hands of the guests.
As many as 29 artists and poets from the Zadipatti drama shows were also felicitated with medals and certificates on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Mohan Khadse appreciated the Natyashree for its venture of organizing such a grand function in Gadchiroli and said he was very much pleased to see this event. Mr. Yatin Samant said that in a backward district like Gadchiroli, literary ‘Pandhari’ has appeared and literary ‘Warkaris’ have gathered’, is certainly a matter of pride for the literature lovers.
Natyashri’s music composer Vitthal Khanorkar, famous theatre artist Diwakar Barsagade, Vijaya Pogade and tabla player Keval Bagmare presented a song and welcomed the attendees.
The program was conducted by Yogesh Gohane, the introduction was given by Dilip Meshram and the vote of thanks was given by Dadaji Chudhari. For the success of the program, Prof. Arun Bure, Yogesh Gohne, Ramesh Nikhare, Rajendra Jarurkar, Dilip Meshram, Jitendra Upadhye, Vasant Chaple, Santosh Gadpayle, Niranjan Bhardkar, Maroti Lakde, Gajanan Gedam, Hemant Kawale, Tikaram Salotkar, Chudaram Balharpure took pains.
It was the first time that big writers were present in a tribal district like Gadchiroli. They included Principal Shivaji Shinde from Solapur, M. D. Ingole from Parbhani, Ashok Kubde from Nanded, Dr. Lalit Adhan, Sachin Savarkar from Wardha, Ananta Sur from Yavatmal, Ms. Varsha Kide- Kulkarni, Balwant Bhoyar, Vishakha Kamble from Nagpur, Shyam Moharkar from Chandrapur, Rajendra Musne, besides famous writers from Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur etc.
