
Gadchiroli Jan. 6 (District Correspondent) The library department of Mahatma Gandhi Arts Science College, Armori had organized a group reading activity under the initiative ‘Reading Resolution of Maharashtra’ on Wednesday.
The initiative was inaugurated by Mr. Sudhakar Adabale MLC and Mr. Ramdas Masram, MLA from Armori. Mr. Manojbhau Wanmali, Secretary of Manoharbhai Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Principal of the college Dr. Lalsingh Khalsa, Principal of the junior college Sainath Addalwar were prominently present.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Adabale said that today’s era is the era of knowledge and accordingly there is no progress without reading. Mahatma Phule had said that reading is mandatory if we want to survive in the world competition. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar also said that a person must read to acquire knowledge. Therefore, reading is must, he stated and gave his best wishes to the group reading initiative.
Mr. Masram expressed his fear that the students may be deprived of understanding the culture, tradition and history of the country due to reducing practice of reading. The initiative of Reading Resolution of Maharashtra to create a love for reading among students is commendable and it is praiseworthy that the college is executing it.
Mr. Wanmali also expressed his views and said that every educational activity is being implemented in the institution as per the directives given by the Maharashtra government. I welcome and appreciate this reading initiative of the college and I advise the principal of the college to continue such knowledge-gaining programs, he said.
Dr. Lal Singh Khalsa in his introductory speech said that today’s young generation is neglecting reading books. The misguided youth can get moral knowledge only through reading. To increase the reading culture among the students, we organize such activities every year on behalf of the library department of the college. Students should pay constant attention to reading and studying and apart from studying, they should also read books regularly, he adviced.
The program was conducted by Dr. Vijay Raiwatkar and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Kishor Wasurke. Vice Principal Dr. Chandrakant Dorlikar, NSS Program Officer Dr. Gajendra Kadhav, Cultural Department’s Prof. Shashikant Gedam, Dr. Dilip Ghonmode, Dr. Priyadarshan Ganvir, Dr. Jayesh Papadkar, Ms. Sneha Katukale, Sachin Watgure, Praveen Pradhan, Vivek Borkar, Mahesh Selokar, Rupesh Ramteke, Siddharth Ramteke, Sheetal Raut, Pranjali Yenugwar and others took pains for the success of the programme.
