
Gadchiroli June 14 (District Correspondent) A delegation of women activists led by Ms. Kusumtai Alam, Vice President of the State Panchayat Raj Department of Congress Party and former ZP councillor met the Resident Dy. Collector Sunil Suryawanshi and Deputy Commissioner of Social Welfare Dr. Sachin Madavi to raise the problems of women and submitted them a memorandum.
The problems raised included incidents of sexual abuse of female students in schools, deadly attacks by wild animals, women’s safety, destitute elderly disabled women, divorced women, widows etc.
The memorandum also included the issues of a bus stop at Bhamragad, provision of new and additional buses to relieve passengers from the inconvenience caused by outdated old ST buses, opening of village libraries, a women’s dialogue room at the Tribal Development Project Office like the Social Welfare Hirkani Room, a Tribal Women’s Study Centre at Gondwana University, strict alcohol prohibition, elimination of superstitions, promotion of women’s employment, cottage industries, artificial limbs for the disabled, eye glasses for the blind, provision of loan, payment of financial aid of government schemes to old age people, payment of gharkuls etc.
A detailed discussion was held with the officers about these demands and the officers assured the women activists to take necessary action. Women activists Ms. Aarti Kangale, Sunita Usendi, Mangala Kulsange, Vidya Parate, Malata Pudo were also present while submitting the memorandum.
