Gadchiroli Aug. 30 (District Correspondent) The elected representatives of village panchayats and gram sabhas from Kasansur area in Etapalli taluka have warned to launch indefinite agitation in protest against the ‘negligence of the administration in constructing a 33 kv sub- station at Kasansur.

These representatives have submitted a memorandum to the district guardian minister and the district collector in this regard yesterday itself and addressed a press conference at the press club here this afternoon giving details of the problems they have been facing in want of regular and sufficient power supply.

The sub station at Kasansur has already been sanctioned around 10 years back but the MSEDCL has not constructed it as yet. We have been asking the authorities about the sub station but on concrete reply is given by them. Sometimes they tell the problems of funds and sometimes about the land, told Mr. Sudhakar Gota, Chairman of the Venara Ilakha Gram Sabha Sangathana.

The residents of Kasansur and nearby areas have been facing severe problems as they do not get the regular power supply and have been living life in miserable conditions. It is very unfortunate that the people of the taluka which provides iron ore worth lakhs of crores of rupees are deprived of the electricity supply in want of funds and land, said Mr. Dewidas Mattami, Dy. Sarpancha of Manewara panchayat while expressing his disappointment over MSEDCL’s negligence in the issue.

We have been requesting the public representatives of the district and senior government authorities for the last many years but no sub station has yet been constructed and the villagers have to face the problems, said Mr. Vilas Kondami, Sarpancha of Waghezari panchayat.

The villagers in the area have therefore decided to launch ‘Chakka Jaan’ agitation at Kasansur if the actual construction of the sub station is not started within a week’s time. Thereafter indefinite ‘Thiyya’ agitation will be launched and will not be withdrawn until the demand is fulfilled, warned Mr. Gota.

When asked about this Superintending Engineer of MSEDCL Prakash Khandekar told that the cognizance of the issue has been taken by the administration and efforts for the funds and land are being made.

Also present at the press conference were Mahadeo Pada Sarpancha of Kotmi, Baburao Pungati, Dy. Saropancha of Sewari, Ms. Alisha Gota, Sarpancha of Jaweli, Damji hichami, dy. Sarpancha of Chokhewada, Sadhu Korami, Dy. Sarpancha of Ghotsur, Sunil Madavi, former Sarpancha of Kasansur and many other Sarpancha, Dy. Sarpanchas and Gram Sabha representatives of the nearby villages.
