Gadchiroli Feb. 21 (District Correspondent) Quite a sensation prevailed at Somanpalli and nearby villages in Chamorshi today as some highly objectionable and insulting words were found written against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at the bus stop on Somanpalli diversion on Chamorshi road.
As soon as the matter came to the knowledge of the people, a large number of Ambedkarites gathered on the highway and started their protest demanding immediate arrest of the culprits who wrote these words. The police however reached the site and pacified the mob assuring them to find out the culprits and register an offence in the case.
The words were found written in a black paint on the tins used at the bus stop of Somanpalli. The heinous act was done probably in the night which irked the Ambedkarites.
A large number of people then gathered in front of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue at village Ashti and registered their protest shouting slogans. They also met the police officers and demanded stringent action against the culprits involved in the act. Mr. Ashok Khandare, Dharmaprakash Kukudkar led the agitation.
SDPO Kokate, Ashti PSO Vishal Kale visited the agitation site and pacified the agitators assuring them action in the matter.
Meanwhile All India Republican Party has strongly condemned the incident and has demanded early arrest of the culprits. Writing such an objectionable and insulting words against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is the anti-national act besides the insult of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, hence offence be registered against those responsible for the act, demanded Mr. Hansraj Undirwade, District President of the party.
Azad Samaj Party district chief Raj Bansod has also condemned the incident and demanded action.
A complaint has been lodged with the Ashti Police Station in this regard and further investigations are on.
