
Gadchiroli Aug. 6 (District Correspondent) ‘If one’s vision is open, poem can be created. There are plenty of problems in the world. People are dying of starvation due to ongoing wars. In India, innumerable poems can be created as there is no dearth of problems. Farmer’s suicide is not the only issue; the plights of farm labourers and other deprived classes are there which can be source of poems. Treat the sorrow of the world as your own and you can compose poems’.
This was stated by a noted poet Loknath Yashwant while speaking at the public dedication of collection of poems at the Press Club here recently.
The collections poems ‘Veul Ghalavane Bare Nahi’, ‘He Nile Akash Maje’, ‘Taho’ and ‘Ha Chitor Kaljacha’ written by the famous poet D. K. Laxman were dedicated to public at the hands of Mr. Loknath.
The famous literary figure from Chandrapur Dr. Isadas Bhadke, presided over the programme while litterateur from Brahmapuri Dr. Dhanraj Khanorkar, critic of Ambedkar movement Komal Khobragade, PDr. Ganesh Sangolkar, critic of Jhadiboli literature Dr. Sham Mohorkar, senior journalist Rohidas Raut, famous novelist Pawan Bhagat, Prof. Dr. Janabandhu Meshram, poetess Kusum Alam, Satish Rana, film producer and director Nagesh Wahurwagh, Sanjay Godghate, artist Sudarshan Barapatre, were mainly present.
In his thought-provoking speech, Mr. Loknath further said to express the big thing in a short way is the poem, every man in the world should feel that the poem is his own. One has to dedicate himself wholly, then only poem can be created, he opined and advised the poets to write on the last man of the society.
On this occasion, poet D. K. Laxman commented on the creation of all the four poetry collections and the purpose behind it. Prof. Dr. Dhanraj Khanorkar’s cheerful and comic commentary made the audience smile. Dr. Isadas Bhadke expressed the opinion that the poetic sentiments of the four collections are inspired by a humanistic perspective and the images and symbols in them come from the poet’s conscious life experience, therefore these poems force the reader to think.
This program was conducted by Shuddhodhan Meshram and Bhavik Sukhdeve, while the vote of thanks was given by Jitendra Raipure. A large number of poetry lovers and Gadchiroli residents attended this program.
