Head Master arrested for sexually abusing students.

Gadchiroli March 7 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli police have arrested a Head Master of a primary school of village Kukkametta in Bhamragad taluka today for sexually abusing minor girls in the school.

According to police, for the past few days, an incident has come to light in which the head master of the school has been sexually abusing minor girls in the school. The incident has come to light due to alertness of the parents and the changes in the behaviour of the girls.

For the past few days, two victim girls from the same family were refusing to go to their school and were quite fearful in the name of the school.

When the parents came to know about this incident, they took the minor girl into confidence and questioned her. The girl said that the school head master Ravindra Ushtuji Gavhare used to call them at different times on the pretext of bringing a register to the school office and perform indecent acts with them when no one else was present in the office. The head master also threatened to beat them up and expel from the school if they told anyone about this incident.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the parents went to the homes of other girls studying in the same school and questioned the girls in the presence of their parents. The girls said that the principal Ravindra Gavhare had also performed indecent acts with some other girls also.

After the incident came to light, the parents went to the Laheri sub police station under Bhamragad sub-division and lodged an oral complaint on March 5 last. Acting on the complaint, the Laheri police arrested Ravindra Ushtuji Gavhare (45), a resident of Bhamragad. An offence under sections 74, 75(2), 351(2)(3) of BNS, sections 8, 10, 12 of POCSO Act and sections 3 (1) (w) (i) (ii), 3 (2) of the Atrocities Act today.

The accused Headmaster Gavhare has been arrested by Bhamragad Police. Further investigation into the said crime is being conducted by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bhamragad Amar Mohite.

Superintendent of Police Nilotpal has assured that the Gadchiroli Police Force will continue to strive to ensure that the accused get maximum punishment.
