Gadchiroli Feb. 1 (District Correspondent) The 60 percent of people of the country own just 3.4 percent of wealth and contribute to around 60 percent of the total taxes. The government properties worth billions of rupees is being sold to the handful of corporate houses and the loan of these corporates also are waived off. To meet such financial losses GST is forced upon the common people. The government thus has been working for the corporates and ignoring the poor. To protest against all these wrong policies of the central government a nation-wide agitation will soon be launched by All India Government Employees Confederation, said Com. Subhash Lamba, national president of the confederation in a press conference here on Friday evening.
Mr. Lamba was in the city to attended the felicitation of employee’s union leader Umeshchandra Chilbule.
Interacting with the media persons at the Panchayat Samiti Hall here Mr. Lamba spoke about various anti-people and anti-employees’ policies of the government and said the confederation has been opposing them since a long but the government is ignoring all the while.
Mr. Lamba pointed out that lakhs of government posts are vacant and unemployment has risen alarmingly but the government is not doing recruitment. The posts are being filled in by outsourcing. Even the important posts in Army also have been filled in on a temporary basis in the form of Agniveer who have no future at all, he stated and demanded that there should be immediate recruitment on regular basis.
During corona period 2 lakh crores of GST was collected by the government but it had no money for the pension of the employees. Farmers agitation was ignored who were demanding minimum support price. All this is happening during the Amrit period of our Independence, Mr. Lamba lamented.
The government is being formed by way of polarization of votes on the religious lines. The real public issues are being ignored. However, the people of the country are understanding all this and it will no longer continue, Lamba warned.
Mr. Vishwas Katkar, Convenor of State government Employees Federation alleged that the government is now shifting its policies from the welfare state to the capitalist and is acting against the poor people. Ignoring equal pay equal work judgement of the supreme court, it is outsourcing the govt. posts and exploiting the employees. The 2.50 lakh posts are vacant in the state itself and they should be filled in, he demanded.
Mr. Umeshchandra Chilbule also addressed the press conference and mentioned the grievances of the employees. Mr. Eknath Dhakne, former president Grampanchayat Officers Union, Ratan Shende, district president, Damodar Patle, Khushal Neware and others were also present at the press conference.
