Gadchiroli Oct. 18 (District Correspondent) Gondwana University has received Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI) National Award for ‘Institutional Social Responsibility’.
The University was presented this Award by Ms. Linda Cameron, High Commissioner of the British Government in India at the 19th FICCI Higher Education Summit 2024 held in Delhi today. With this award, another feather has been planted in the honour of Gondwana University, which has always been engaged in innovative and social activities.
FICCI had invited online proposals for the award under Corporate Social Responsibility. The Ekal Gram Sabha Empowerment Program launched by Gondwana University submitted an online proposal for this award. The organization invited six universities in India to make presentations, after which three universities were nominated for the award.
The award was given in recognition of the work done by Gondwana University for Gram Sabha empowerment. On this occasion, FICCI also honoured the innovative and social activities of Gondwana University like ‘Vidyapith in village’, ‘CIIIT’, ‘STRC’.
The Gondwana University has provided technical assistance to gram sabhas for their empowerment to prepare 235 forest management plans by providing training on Pesa Act, Collective Forest Rights Act, Biodiversity Act, Forest Management and Conservation, Secondary Forest Productivity Record and Audit.
On behalf of the University, Ekal Gram Sabha Training Coordinator Dr. Naresh Madavi and Director of Innovation, Incubation and Linkages Dr. Manish Uttarwar accepted the award at an event held in Delhi.
