Gadchiroli Feb. 25 (District Correspondent) BJP Mahila morcha district president Geeta hinge has demanded stringent punishment to the accused in a rape case.
Addressing a press conference at the press club here this afternoon, Ms. Hinge told that one Anil Machhirke (38), a resident of village Chikhli in Kurkheda taluka entered the house of the woman seeing her alone at the house as her family members had gone for work to the farm and committed rape on her on Feb. 18 last at around 12 noon.
The woman lodged a complaint with the Kurkheda police station the same evening upon which offence was registered against the accused under the relevant sections of BNS and she was sent for medical examination to the district hospital of Gadchiroli.
The accused is building pressure on the victim to withdraw her complaint hence the woman is frightened, told Ms. Hinge. The act is most heinous and stringent punishment should be given to the accused, she demanded.
Also present at the press conference were Ms. Vasrha Shedmake, ex councillor, Rupali Kawle, Rekha Uike, Bharti Khobragade, Payal Kodap, Bhumika Barde, Vaishnavi Dongre and others.
