
Gadchiroli May 28 (District Correspondent) The Gadchiroli District Central Cooperative Bank (GDCCB) has once again been honoured with the Late Vaikunthbhai Mehta Excellent District Bank Award for the year 2023-24 at the state level.
Every year, one bank is selected for this award from 21 district central cooperative banks in Maharashtra by the Maharashtra State Cooperative Banks Association, Mumbai. It is noteworthy that Gadchiroli District Bank has won this award 12 times so far.
Banks that perform excellently as per the financial criteria of Reserve Bank of India and NABARD are honoured with the Late Vaikunthbhai Mehta Excellent District Central Cooperative Bank Award. The award for the year 2023-2024 has been announced for Gadchiroli District Bank and the award distribution ceremony will be held in Mumbai in the presence of dignitaries shortly.
The Gadchiroli District Central Cooperative Bank has been providing banking facilities to the people of remote and extremely remote areas of the district through its 57 branches for the last 29 years. The bank has provided modern facilities like mobile banking, IMPS and UPI to its customers. The Reserve Bank of India has recently granted the internet banking facility license to the district bank, on meeting the financial criteria of the Reserve Bank. This is the first district central cooperative bank in Maharashtra and the eighth in the country to receive the internet banking license.
The Gadchiroli District Central Cooperative Bank was established in 1985 after the division of Chandrapur District Bank. At that time, the total business of the bank was only Rs. 6 crores. Due to the vision and guidance of the bank’s founder chairman and senior cooperative leader Arvind Saokar Poreddiwar, the branch network was expanded in stages in the district to provide banking facilities to the tribals, poor, farmers and people from remote areas of the district and today 57 branches of the bank are functioning.
Bank Chairman Pranchit Arvind Poreddiwar, Vice President Srihari Bhandari, Honorary Secretary Anant Salve, all directors of the bank and the bank’s CEO Satish Ailwar have given the credit for the award to all the account holders of the bank in the district, office bearers, directors, members of all cooperative societies, all members of women’s savings groups and all well-wishers and have congratulated and thanked them for this award.
