Gadchiroli Aug. 3 (District Correspondent) Armori MLA Krishna Gajbe has demanded to provide immediate relief for crop damage caused due to recent heavy rain and flood in Gadchiroli district during July-August 2023.
Mr. Gajbhe has sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Relief and Rehabilitation Minister in this regard.
Gadchiroli is a tribal, remote, naxal affected and aspirational district and as there are no big industries here, the citizens are mainly dependent on agriculture. Gadchiroli district receives heavy rainfall every year. There was heavy rains in the month of July- August 2023 due to which river Wainganga and its tributaries developed flood and the crops in the district were severely damaged. The farmers have not been able to get compensation as yet even though the report in this regard has been sent to the government by the divisional Commissioner, Nagpur, Gajbhe has pointed out.
According to this report, as many as 3250 hectares of land belonging to 5557 farmers in the district suffered a loss of Rs. 4,33,43,625 which has not yet been compensated by the government due to Code of Conduct of the lok Sabha elections, Gajbhe further pointed out.
The said compensation be paid soon to the farmers, he has demanded. Mr. Gajbhe also met the rehabilitation minister personally and discussed with him. The MLA has also called upon the farmers to complete their e-KYC on maha DBT portal for availing the relief amount and get their bank accounts linked with Aadhar cards.
