Gadchiroli Jan. 6 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli police have seized illicit liquor along with vehicles worth Rs. 21,00,400 on Friday.
On the basis of confidential information received that a person named Manoj Majumdar was going to transport illegal liquor via Chandrapur-Mulchera-Etapalli in his four-wheeler Bolero pickup, API Rahul Awhad and his team was dispatched.
When the said team was sitting in a trap near Koparali village in Mulchera taluka, around 12.00 am, a four-wheeler Bolero pickup vehicle was seen coming at a high speed. The police stopped the vehicle and inspected the it.
During the inspection of the said vehicle, 143 boxes of illegal foreign liquor and beer worth approximately Rs. 14,00,400 was found in the vehicle. The four-wheeler Bolero pickup vehicle No. M. H. 33 T 5095 worth approximately Rs. 7,00,000 along with the said illegal liquor was seized.
A case has been registered against the person named Manoj Majumdar, age 45, resident of Tal. Etapalli under Section 65 (A) and 98 (2) of the IPC at Police Station, Mulchera. A case was also registered against the said person earlier for transportation of illegal liquor at Police Station, Gadchiroli.
The said action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shri. Nilotpal, Additional SP (Operations) Yatish Deshmukh, Additional SP (Administration) M. Ramesh, Additional SP Aheri Dr. Shrenik Lodha and Police Inspector of Local Crime Branch Arun Phegde, by the Local Crime Branch API Rahul Awhad and his team.
