Gadchiroli Feb. 3 (District Correspondent) As many as four hardcore Maoists have surrendered before the police and CRPF today. Their names have been given as Ashok Sadmek alais Balanna alias Chandrashekhar-(63), (DVCM, Technical Team), resident of Arkapalli, Tah. Aheri, Vanita Zore (54), (ACM, Technical Team), resident of Kornar, Tah. Etapalli, Sadhu Mohanda alais Shailesh alias Sameer-(32), (PM, Platoon No. 32), resident of Tumarkodi, Tah. Bhamragad and Munni Podiya Korsa (25), (PM), resident of Siligair, Tah. Kola, Dist. Sukama (Chhattisgarh).
Ashok was recruited in Aheri LOS in 1991 and worked until 1995. A total of 82 crimes have been registered against him, out of which 31 – Encounters, 17- Arsons and 34- Others offences. Vanita Dohe Zore was recruited in Etapalli LOS in 1993. A total of 11 crimes have been registered against her, out of which 1 – Encounter, 2- Arsons and 8- Others offences. Sadhu was recruited as Janmilitia in 2011. A total of 4 crimes have been registered against him, out of which 2 – Encounters and 02- Others offences. Munni was recruited in Basaguda LOS in 2015. Details of involvement in violent incidents is being verified.
Due to the continuous patrolling of the police, it was difficult to move in the forest, seniors don’t pay attention to medical problems, during encounters, male Maoists ran away leaving woman Maoists who often got killed, fellow tribals were killed solely on suspicion of being police informers, women are badly discriminated against by seniors, seniors instruct to collect money for the movement but use that money for themselves are some of the reasons of this surrender, according to police.
Maharashtra Government had announced a reward of Rs. 16 lakhs on Ashok, Rs. 6 lakhs on Vanita, Rs. 4 lakhs on Sadhu and Rs. 2 lakhs on Munni.
Due to effective implementation of the Surrender Policy, a total of 695 active Maoists till date have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police. As many as 50 hardcore Maoists have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police from the year 2022 till date. This is the 17th surrender of this year. This action was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Sandip Patil, Special IGP (ANO), Ankit Goyal, DIG, Gadchiroli Range, Ajai Kumar Sharma, DIG (Ops.) CRPF, Neelotpal, SP, Shambhu Kumar, Commandant 09 Bn. CRPF.
Mr. Neelotpal has assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to those willing to surrender. He has appealed to active Maoists to renounce the path of violence and join the mainstream of development.
