
Gadchiroli April 19 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli Police and CRPF have arrested 4 hardcore Maoists who were actively involved in killing of a C-60 commando during encounter at Dirangi-Fulnar.
Government of Maharashtra had announced a total reward of Rs. 40 Lakhs for their arrest. The arrested Maoists include senior Maoist Couple Raghu and Jaini, Secretary of South Gadchiroli Divisional Committee and Secretary of Bhamragad Area Committee, and two members of Bhamragad LOS.
Due to the effective operations of the Gadchiroli Police, a total of 96 Maoists have been arrested since Jan. 2022 till date.
In the forest area of Palli within the jurisdiction of Police Station Tadgaon under Bhamragad sub-division, Tadgaon police and CRPF 09 Bn. personnel were conducting a joint Anti-Maoist operation. During this, they took four suspicious persons in custody as they were found roaming in the said forest area.
The Maoists have been identified as Sailu Bhumayah Muddela alias Raghu alias Pratap, DVCS, South Gadchiroli Division, (55), resident of Lingapur, Tah-Darepalli, Distt. Nizamabad (Telangana), Jaini Bhima Kharatam alias Akhila alias Rame, DVCM, Bhamragad, (41), resident of Kanchala, Tah-Bhopalpattanam, Distt. Bijapur (Chhattisgarh), Zansi Doge Talandi alias Gangu, Member of Bhamragad LOS (30), resident of Yechali, Tah. Bhamragad and Manila Pido Gawde alias Sarita, Member, Bhamragad LOS (21), resident of Kapewancha Tah. Aheri.
It was found that the four individuals are hardcore Maoists listed in the police records and they had entered Palli Forest area with the intention of conducting reconnaissance for carrying out an attack. These four Maoists were directly involved in murder of a police personnel during encounter that took place on February 11, 2025, in Dirangi-Fulnar forest area.
A case has been registered against them at Police Station Kothi under s 103, 109, 121 (1), 132, 189(2), 190, 191(2), 61 of BNS, along with Sections 25, 27, 3, 5 of the Arms Act, Sections 3, 4, 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Sections 13, 16, 18, 20, 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, along with Section 135 of the MPA.
This action was taken under the guidance of Mr. Sandip Patil, Special Inspector General of Police (ANO), Ankit Goyal, DIG Gadchiroli Range, Ajai Kumar Sharma, DIG (Ops.) CRPF, Neelotpal, SP, Shambhu Kumar, Commdt. 09 Bn. CRPF, Yatish Deshmukh, Addl. SP (Ops.), M. Ramesh, Addl. SP (Admin.), Satya Sai Karthik, Addl. SP Aheri, Vishal Nagargoje, Dy. SP (Ops.) and Amar Mohite SDPO Bhamragad by Police Station S Tadgaon and CRPF Police personnel.
SP Nilotpal has indicated that, the anti-Maoist operations will be further intensified in this region and appealed to active Maoist cadres to renounce the path of violence and surrender in order to live their lives with dignity.
