Folk Dance festival starts at Gadchiroli.

Gadchiroli March 2 (District Correspondent) The South Central Region Cultural Centre, (SCRCC) Nagpur, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Cultural Affairs department, Government of Maharashtra, jointly organized the festival “Folk Dance Bharat Bharati” at Vidya Bharati Girls High School here on Saturday.

The three-day festival was inaugurated by Dr. Rajabhau Munghate, Founder of Vidya Bharati Girls High School and Junior College. Former MLA Dr. Namdev Usendi, Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Dr. Sachin Madavi, Mr. Deepak Kulkarni, Assistant Director of SCRCC, Sandeep Shende, Assistant Director of Directorate of Cultural Affairs were prominently present.

On the first day of the festival, various folk dances like the famous Lavani, Koli dance of Maharashtra, Badhaai, Norata of Madhya Pradesh, colourful dances like Kalbeliya, Bhawai, Chari of Rajasthan, Ghoomar, Phaag dance of Haryana, Joshpurna Siddhi Dhamal dance of Gujarat, Sambalpuri, Dalkhai dance of Odisha and Karma dance of Chhattisgarh were presented.

A large number of audiences was present at the festival and responded spontaneously to the wonderful dance performances of the artists.

This program is being implemented under the concept of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Government of Maharashtra. It has been organized under the guidance of Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Cultural Affairs, Vikas Kharge and under the planning of Vibhishan Chavare, Director of Cultural Affairs, Astha Karlekar, Director, SCRCC, Nagpur.

This program has been organized with the aim of preserving the diverse culture and art of India and to make it known to the new generation. This festival is being organized to provide a rightful platform to local folk art and artists.

The special cooperation of Dandakaranya Educational and Cultural Development Research Institute, Gadchiroli has been received for organizing this festival.

This festival is free for all. The Director of South-Central Sector Cultural Centre, Nagpur has appealed to more and more spectators to attend and enjoy this program.
