
Gadchiroli March 8 (District Correspondent) The villagers have demanded construction of a new road between Ekra (Buj) to Aldandi village under Todsa Gram Panchayat in Etapalli taluka and bridges over the drains falling on the road.
A delegation consisting former Panchayat Samiti member Mangesh Alami, Sangita Durva, councillor Manohar Borkar met the Resident Deputy Collector Sunil Suryavanshi and submitted him a memorandum in this regard.
A resolution was unanimously passed by Todsa Gram Sabha recently which was also submitted to the collector.
The memorandum states that the citizens of seven to eight villages in Ekra and its vicinity do not have any kind of road to travel to and from Aldandi and other villages in the vicinity, due to which the commuters have to endure the unnecessary trouble of taking a detour on a long road.
The citizens of Ekra (Buj), Ekra (Khurd), Todsa, Alenga, Lanji, Doddi, Karampalli, Petha, Zarewada have to always travel to Aldandi, Udera, Tumargunda, Burgi, Parasalgondi, Rekanar villages. They have a paved road from the taluka headquarters Etapalli. However, while traveling on this road, they have to walk an additional 20 to 25 km of distance. There is no government passenger bus service available from the area, therefore, the commuters have no choice but to travel by private passenger transport services. The passengers have to endure financial, mental and physical hardships, pointed out the memorandum.
Also present in the delegation were former Sarpanch Sadhu Gawade, Dulsa Pungati, Kanna Naroti, Chandu Atram, Suresh Durva, Manik Pungati, Maroti Usendi, Sudhakar Naroti, Balku Gota, Ashwin Atram, Suraj Gota, Ramji Naroti, Katiya Pusli and other villagers.
The villagers have warned of a strong agitation if the demand for the road is not fulfilled soon.
