Mr. Rajan Gawas is speaking as Dr. abhay Bang, Ranganath Pathare, Nandkumar More, Dr. Rajabhau Mumghate and others releasing the book.

Gadchiroli Feb. 9 (District correspondent) ‘Even after 75 years of Independence, what did our education system give to us? Teachers should take up the issue of the whole society. It is a reality that a graduated youth cannot write simple four lines. This is the failure of education system. Is the purpose of education only to produce a graduate or to get a job through education? Education is not meant to just get a job, but there should be an education system that creates good people’.

This was stated by noted novelist and thinker Rajan Gawas while speaking at the golden jubilee year concluding ceremony of Dandakaranya Educational and Cultural Development Research Institute that was held at Vidyabharati Junior College here the other day.

Noted social worker Dr. Abhay Bang, Senior writer and thinker Ranganath Pathare, Head of Marathi Department of Shivaji University Kolhapur, Dr. Nandkumar More, cooperative leader Babasaheb Wasade were present as chief guests.

Chairman of the Institute Dr. Rajabhau Munghate, presided over the programme while Secretary Professor Dr. Pramod Munghate, Vice President Devaji Patil Narule, Members Pandurang Patil Mashakhetri, Prof. Arvind Bande, Sugriv Dudhmochan, Namdevrao Banbale, Dr. Suresh Ladke, Saurabh Munghate were prominently present.

The souvenir ‘Dandakaranya Vriksha Kanchan’ and a book ‘Shodh Katemundaricha’ edited by Nandkumar More were released by the dignitaries on the occasion.

Mr. Gawas further said only recognition of letters does not mean literacy. There should be faith in labour. Today, the farmers do not get labourers to work in their fields, on the other hand, the youth is seen wandering around for employment. It is necessary to add labour to education, he stated. We can see the state of disrepair of educational institutions because the government is no longer interested in education, he lamented.

Dr. Abhay Bang said that the state of education has changed in today’s era. The poverty of education is coming to the fore. A writer has a different vision that goes beyond the practical. Litterateurs are the Rishis. They look from darkness to light. Govindrao Munghate’s book ‘Katemundharichi Shala’ has made a double discovery. It has conducted the search of the tribal children and also the search for the teachers. Today’s education system is creating an army of unemployment, so there is a need to change the direction of education. Even after 75 years of independence, the condition of education does not seem to have improved, he remarked.

After  few years many things will become outdated. There will be an army of unemployed. Education should be changeable and in tune with the times, he observed.

Mr. Pathare said that corruption has reached its peak in all sectors today. Our country has the same education system everywhere. Mother tongue is a source of knowledge, so it is necessary to give education through mother tongue. The education system of every place should not be on the same ground, rating check is necessary for that.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee year, the professors, teachers and staff of the institute who have done substantial work in the institute were duly felicitated by the dignitaries.

Dr. Rajabhau Munghate gave the details of the Sanstha, Dr. Pramod Munghate, introduced the guests, Dr. Narendra Arekar conducted the programme and Dr. Ravindra Vikhar proposed the vote of thanks.

Padma Shri. Parashuram Khune, Sumati Lande, Dr. Satish Gogulwar, Sandeep Gaddamwar, Prin. Bhausaheb Jaganade, Dr. N. S. Kokode, Adv. Govind Bhendarkar, Prin. Hiraji Banpurkar, Prin.
