Gadchiroli Aug. 27 (District Correspondent) General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and Incharge of Gadchiroli District Dr. Namdev Kirsan has demanded early relief to the flood affected people of the district.
Dr. Kirsan, accompanied by other Congress leaders toured the flood affected areas of the district and inspected the loss caused by the farmers and other citizens. He also talked to the affected people and sought information of loss from them during this tour.
As compared to last year, the district has received heavy rains this year, resulting in a continuous flood situation. Due to the recent release of water from Gosekhurd Dam, flood conditions have arisen in the district and agricultural land in thousands of hectares has been under water for three consecutive days, resulting in the loss of many crops, said Dr. Kirsan in a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister after his tour.
In such a situation, financial assistance of at least 50 thousand rupees per hectare should be given to the farmers by declaring a wet drought in the district, he demanded.
During this tour, Dr. Namdev Kirsan inspected the flood-damaged agriculture in Wagholi, Dotkuli, Ghargaon, Ramala, Mohurli villages of Chamorshi taluka. Congress leaders Pramod Bhagat, Harbaji More, Vilas Ghongde, Jankiram Porte, Kavaduji Putkamwar, Anil Kumre, Nomaji Satpute, Abhijit Satpute, Sainath Chalakh and many farmers accompanied him.
