Gadchiroli Aug. 7 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Namdev Kirsan, met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya, Engineering College and an additional Navodaya Vidyalaya in Gadchiroli district. He submitted a written memorandum to the minister in this regard and discussed the issue with him.
Gadchiroli is a very remote, tribal-dominated district in Maharashtra, and lacks the basic educational facilities. Many students in the district have go to other districts for higher education. As a result, they are under financial, mental and social stress. Against this backdrop, there is a dire need for national standard educational institutions like Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya in Gadchiroli district, Dr. kirsan pointed out in the memorandum.
The educational institutions will pave the way for local students to get quality education, as well as will be helpful in developing competitive ability among the rural and tribal area students. Similarly, since there is no government engineering college in Gadchiroli district, students have to go to Nagpur, Chandrapur or other districts to pursue education in the field of science and technology. This poses a big challenge for students from economically weaker sections, Kirsan further stated.
If a government engineering college is established in Gadchiroli district, the local youth will get a golden opportunity to pursue higher education in the district itself, said Dr. Kirsan.
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan listened to the demand seriously and understood the sensitively to the educational needs of the district. Kirsan expressed his confidence that a positive decision will be taken by the Central Government on these demands soon.
