Gadchiroli April 24 (District Correspondent) ‘Mere glorification of the Indian Constitution is not sufficient. Glorification and actual implementation are two different things. Those in power who declare faith in the Constitution and adorn it must see to it that the Constitution is implemented honestly as well, so that the real benefit reaches to the masses.’
This observation was made by the national president of the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party, (BRSP) Adv. Dr. Suresh Mane while addressing a ‘Sanvidhan Adhikar Sammelan’ to mark the 75 th anniversary of the constitution and the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotiba Fule and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The programme was organized by the district unit of BRSP at Indira Gandhi square of the city. Tribal activist Prof. Anil Holi, Vasantrao Kulsange, Dnyaneshwar Raut, Prof. Sanjay Magar, BRSP district president Milind Bambole, noted singer Arunbhau Sahare were prominently present as the chief guests.
Dr. Mane emphasized the importance of constitutional rights and the values enshrined in it by Dr. Ambedkar. He criticized the government, stating that despite celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti, the authorities are actually violating his values by dismantling the Constitution one way or the other.
Dr. Mane expressed that the situation has become so dire that the principles laid out in the Constitution are being openly flouted, and the public must be made aware of this. He warned that if these actions are not strongly opposed, our democratic values will be permanently damaged.
During his speech, Dr. Mane accused local administrative officials in Gadchiroli district of delaying the implementation of development schemes for tribal and backward communities such as implementation of PESA, forcible acquisition of farmer’s land for the corporates etc. He alleged that the benefits meant for the common people are being diverted towards the big industrialists and this should be stopped immediately.
Rohidas Raut mentioned the ulterior motives of the anti constitution forces and called upon the like minded and secular parties and organizations to launch a combined fight against these forces. Only the constitution of India can protect the poor and backward people of the country, he stated.
Prof. Anil Holi said the values enshrined in the constitution of India are the real base of the progress of the tribals, Dalits and all other people. The provisions are therefore needed to be executed properly and all the backward class people should fight for their rights.
The other guests also expressed their views on the occasion. Mr. Milind Bambode made an introductory speech, Pritesh Ambade conducted the programme and Ms. vidya Kamble proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of people attended the programme.
