Gadchiroli July 28 (District Correspondent) South Gadchiroli Dandakaranya Contractors Association has demanded that the severe conditions laid by the Public Works Department for the tenders be relaxed to enable the local contractors to participate in the tender process.
Addressing the press conference at the circuit house here this afternoon, Mr. Pranay Khune, Advisor of the Association told that the PWD has laid down very severe conditions for the tenders of its construction works of roads and bridges. The local contractors who have been doing their works in the district for the last several years are not able to fulfil these conditions and are most likely to be deprived from getting the tenders allotted.
These conditions should be relaxed and fresh tender process be started so that the local contractors could participate in the tendering process and get some works, demanded Khune.
The PWD authorities are deliberately applying the new conditions to keep away the local contractors and benefit some big contractors, alleged Khune. The local contractors have been doing the developmental works in very remote areas of the district for the last several years risking their lives, but now conspiracy is being hatched by the PWD authorities to keep them away, he alleged. He warned that all the contractors will launch an agitation if these troublesome conditions are not relaxed.
The office bearers and members of the Contractors Association including Arun Nimbalkar, Arvind Katratwar, Nitin Waylalwar, Ajay Tummawar and others were present at the press conference
