Gadchiroli Nov. 28 (District Correspondent) Every citizen should be aware that the Indian Constitution is the ray of hope for all the people of the country. We should remain united by being aware of our rights. We have not yet recognized that there is great power in the Constitution, said Adv. Deepak Chatap, High court lawyer and social activist.
He was speaking at a program organized by the ‘Sanvidhan Foundation at the auditorium of ZP high School here on November 26. The program was chaired by Senior Journalist Rohidas Raut. District Health Officer Dr. Pratap Shinde, Police Station Incharge R. K. Singanjude, Chief Convenor of the Foundation Gautam Meshram Dr. Dilip Barsagade, Devanand Fulzhele, Ms. Arti Kolhe were prominently present.
Adv. Chatap further said the government institutes should work as per the guidelines of the constitution and not at the whims of the rulers. it is necessary to maintain the freedom of citizens more than the stability of the government, by adopting constitutional values, he asserted.
He said, today the tendency to buy democracy is increasing. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar said that we should be aware of the right to vote. The strength of the Constitution must be created within us.
He also asserted that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar gave the first importance to education. Equality comes through education, the benefit of education should be given to the deprived, exploited and marginalized society, he added.
Rohidas Raut in his presidential speech asserted that the Constitution has given equal rights to everyone and collective efforts are needed to protect and maintain the Constitution. Secularism is the key factor of our constitution and that needs to be maintained at any cost, he said.
At the outset, a huge Sanvidhan Rally was taken out in the city. The rally was flagged off at Ambedkar Chowk by Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Dr. Sachin Madavi and Block Development Officer Dr. Surendra Gongale. All the office bearers of the Sanvidhan Foundation were present at this time.
The rally moved through T Point -Visapur Complex- Kargil Chowk- Phule Ward, Indira Gandhi Chowk, Lanzeda, Indiranagar, Samvidhan Chowk, Birsa Munda Chowk and finally culminated at Zilla Parishad high School.
Mr. Gautam Meshram made an introductory speech, Tularam Raut conducted the programme and Dewanand Fulzele proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of people attended the programme and the rally.
