Gadchiroli Jan. 27 (District Correspondent) The Congress party workers staged demonstrations at Indira Square of the city on Friday to protest against the alleged irregularities in the voters list during the state assembly elections and the functioning of the Election Commission.

A large number of party workers assembled at Indira Square under the leadership of Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Namdeo kirsan, DCC chief Mahendra Bramhanwade and Armori MLA Ramdas Masram and shouted slogans against the government and the election commission.

It was alleged by Dr. Kirsan that there has been a large-scale irregularity in the voters list during the recently held state assembly elections as an increase of around 50 lakhs of voters was recorded between the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and Maharashtra Assembly elections. How could such a large number of votes could increase within just six months, he asked. It was demanded that the Election Commission should immediately clarify this sudden increase of voters.

The entire election process should be conducted in a transparent and free and fair way, so that the comman electorate and public of the country should have trust in the election machinery and their real representatives could be elected to strengthen democracy, demanded Dr. Kirsan during his speech.

Those prominently participated in the agitation included Mr. Satish Vidhate, city president, youth congress chief Nitesh Rathod, women’s chief Adv. Kavita Mohorkar, Rajnikant Motghare, Kashinath Bhadke, Pramod Bhagat, Milind Khobragade, Vasant Raut, Netaji Gavture, Ghanshyam Wadhai, Prashant Koram, Jitendra Munghate, Nandu Wailkar, Shankarrao Salotkar, Vinod Lengure, Suresh Bhandekar, Ravi Meshram, Anil Bhandekar and many others.

Later on, Dr. Kirsan addressed the press conference at the Guest House and alleged that the Election Commission has become partial and working for the benefit of the ruling party. The Commission should act impartially for the healthy democracy. The increased votes are suspicious and the commission should clarify it immediately, he demanded. The Congress Party had sought information from the Election commission about the increased votes but it has not given a satisfactory reply, Kirsan told. A big question mark has arised over the entire functioning of the Election commission, he alleged.

The senior leaders of the Congress party including DCC president Mahendra Bramhanwade, MLA Ramdas Masram and others were present at the press conference.
