Congress workers stage Chakka Jaam at Deulgaon for farmers issues.

Gadchiroli April 22 (District Correspondent) The congress workers staged ‘Chakka Jaam’ agitation this afternoon at village Deulgaon on Nagpur highway to press the demand of immediate power supply to the farmers and permanent solution to the wild elephant’s menace.

A large number of Congress workers and farmers from Armori taluka and other parts of the district assembled on the highway and started chakka jam agitation shouting slogans in support of their demands. The vehicular traffic on the highway was disturbed for about an hour due to this agitation.

It was only after the government officials visited the agitation site and gave assurances to resolve the issues, the agitation was withdrawn. Gadchiroli District Congress Committee President Mahendra Brahmanwade and MLA of Armori Ramdas Masram led the agitation.

Former ZP Vice Presidents Manohar Poretti, Jeevan Patil Naat, Womens President Adv. Kavita Moharkar, City President Satish Vidhate, Armori Taluka President Milind Khobragade, Wadsa taluka’s Rajendra Bulle, Korchi- Manoj Agarwal, Dhanora- Prashant Koram, Gadchiroli -Vasant Raut, Aheri -Dr. Abdul Nisar Hakim, SC Cell President Rajnikant Motghare, Youth Congress chief Nitesh Rathod, Parasram Tikle, Nitin Raut, Shankarrao Salotkar,  Anil Kothare, District Jayant Harde, Prabhakar Wasekar, Abdul Panjwani, Nandu Narote, Rupesh Tikle, Sanjay Channe, Harbaji More, Dilip Ghodam, Sherkhan Pathan, Ramesh Chaudhari and many other Congress workers participated in this agitation.

The protesters blocked the traffic on the Nagpur-Gadchiroli highway for one hour and blocked the road. Meanwhile, Congress District President Mahendra Brahmanawade has warned that an even more intense protest will be held if . the demands are not met immediately.

Other demands in the protest were farmers who have submitted a demand for electricity meters should be supplied power connection soon, despite repeated opposition from farmers and public representatives, the process of acquiring fertile farmland in the Pulkhala area for the airport should be stopped, the rates of farmland to be acquired for MIDC in Bhendala area should be increased and the land should be acquired only after discussions with the farmers, a high-level committee should investigate and take strict action against the culprits in the paddy scam, bonus should be announced for paddy, farmers should be given complete loan waiver, sand should be made available for gharkuls, the pending dues under MNREGA should be paid immediately, the pending national highway and other road work in the district should be completed before the monsoon, vacant posts in various departments of the district should be filled in immediately.
