Gadchiroli July 5 (District Correspondent) ‘Dhol Bajao’ agitation will be staged in the office of the District Collector by the Congress Party in protest against the ‘negligence and in efficiency of the District Collector, administration and the state government’.
This was declared by Mr. Mahendra Bramhanwade, District Congress chief in a press conference held at the Circuit House here on Friday afternoon.
The people of the district have been facing various problems but the District Collector and other senior government officers do not get time to visit the villages. They have been busy in just holding the meetings at their district headquarters. Many times, agitations were organized by the Congress Party to attract the attention of the administrations and government towards these problems but no any attention is being paid towards the people’s issues. The sufferings of the people have been going on, Bramhanwade pointed out.
To awaken the administration from its slumber the Dhol Bajao agitation is being organized, told Bramhanwade.
Listing the major demands of the people, Bramhanwade informed -repairing the roads, providing good buses for the students, supplying regular electricity, compensation to the farmers affected by wild elephants, tigers and other wild animals, stopping acquiring agricultural lands for the industrialists, distributing ownership pattas of the forest land, paying bonus to paddy growing farmers, waiving off the farmer’s loan, constructing bypass road in Gadchiroli to avoid accidents, appointing sufficient staff in the health centres, arrangements to avoid crop loss due to discharge of water from Medigatta and Gosekhurd projects, early payment of the pending bills of contractors, making it compulsory for the government officials to remain present at their respective headquarters etc.
Mr. Bramhanwade strongly opposed the newly formed Mining Authority saying not a single public representative from the district has been appointed in this Authority. The people of the district have preserved the forests and the mines but they are not taken into confidence while allocating these mines to the industrialists, he alleged.
The chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had visited the district only after the agitation of the congress party but even during that visit also he did not meet the comman people, just attended a couple of govt. meetings and went back. What is the use of such visits. Has the chief minister accepted the charge of guardian minister just for the interests of the few corporates, he asked.
Also present at the press conference were Adv. Vishwajeet Kowase, vice president of State Youth Congress, Satish vidhate, city congress chief, Nitesh Rathod, District Youth Congress chief, Adv. Kavita mohorkar, women congress chief, Samsher Pathan, Ghanshyam Wadhai, general secretaries, Vasant Raut, Rupesh Tikle, Diwakar Misar and many others.
