Gadchiroli Aug. 2 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli District Congress’ staged ‘Bhikh Mango’ agitation to press the demand of providing separate land for medical college and recruiting employees through the government machinery on Friday at Indira Gandhi square of the city.

A large number of Congress activists assembled in the square, some of them holding bowls in their hands and shouted slogans in support of their demands.

The separate building of the government medical college approved in Gadchiroli during the tenure of Maha Vikas Aghadi has not come into existence till date. Even when the state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself is the Guardian Minister of Gadchiroli and there is another Co Guardian Minister Ashish Jaiswal for the district, it is very unfortunate that a separate land could not be made available for the Govt. Medical College, which shows negligence on the part of the government towards the issue, said Mr. Mahendra Bramhanwade, district Congress president while speaking during the agitation.

In addition, although the recruitment of staff has been started through a private company in the said medical college, the recruitment process has not been completed till date. Therefore, many eligible youths in the district are waiting for jobs. This recruitment should be done through the government machinery, it was also demanded.

To attract the attention of the government towards this issue a ‘Bhik Mango’ agitation was organized. A delegation of the Congress leaders then met the District Collector Avishyant Panda and submitted him a memorandum in this regard and discussed the issue with him. Meanwhile, the District Collector assured that the space for the medical college will be made available soon.
