Gadchiroli Feb. 12 (District Correspondent) C-60 Commando Mahesh Nagulwar, who attained martyrdom while carrying out a major operation against Maoists, between villages Dirangi and Fulnar in Bhamragad taluka last morning, was cremated with full state honours today at his native place Ankhoda in Chamorshi taluka. Joint Guardian Minister Adv. Ashish Jaiswal paid tribute to his mortal remains by offering a wreath and condoled the family.

A police team saluted the martyred jawan by firing a gun salute. MLA Dr. Milind Narote, Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal and other dignitaries also paid tribute by offering a wreath.

Earlier, police salute was also given to martyr Mahesh Nagulwar at Gadchiroli Police Headquarters this morning. On this occasion, Additional Director General of Police (Special Operation) Rajkumar Vatkar, District Collector Avishyant Panda, Special Inspector General of Police for Anti-Naxal Operations Sandeep Patil, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police Nilotpal, Superintendent of Police (CRPF) Sumit Verma and senior police officers paid tribute to him.

C- 60 jawans had carried out a major operation to destroy the Naxalite camp in the Phulnar Jungle area of ​​Bhamragad taluka. However, during this operation, Mahesh Nagulwar was shot. He died during treatment. He is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.

Meanwhile Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid emotional tribute to the martyred commando Mahesh Nagulwar online. ‘We will never forget the sacrifice made by Mahesh Nagulwar for the nation in the campaign for a Naxal-free India, and his sacrifice will not go in vain, he said.

Taking note of his bravery, Fadnavis announced financial assistance of Rs 2 crore and various benefits to the family from the state government.

Mr. Fadnavis directly interacted with the Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police and took information about the entire incident. “The Maharashtra Police Force and we are all with the family of Nagulwar,” he explained in his message on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

A large number of people including the family members and relatives of the martyred commando, villagers, police officials attended the cremation. The widow of Mahesh broke out before the senior officers including the District Collector upon which many of those present could not control their tears.
