Gadchiroli Feb. 9 (District Correspondent) A country where drinking water is drunk with a blind eye is called development. A country where everyone wants their child to study in a public school is called development. The focus of development should be the common man, said Mr. Sanjay Awte, senior journalist, writer and thinker.

He was speaking at the concluding session of the 23rd state-wide biennial convention of the Maharashtra State Backward Class Electricity Employees Union (MSBCEU) that was held at R. K. Celebration Hall here this afternoon.

“The ideology of the great men who built the country and we are the people of India” was the topic of his lecture. National President of the Independent Mazdoor Union J. S. Patil, President of the Union Dr. Sanjay Ghodke, Working President Sanjay More, Chief Organizer Suryakant Janbandhu were present on the dais. The chairman was General Secretary Premanand Maurya.

In his speech, Mr. Awte further said that today the country of Buddha is becoming a country of the unwise. Because the system is afraid of thinking. It is the job of the rulers to create a conscious generation. The future generation will ask you who you were with when the work of dividing the country started, he quipped.

He further said; it is necessary to understand our great men in a new context. The biological relationship of great men should reach the next generation. Jai Bhim is the password of the new world. Jai Bhim is not only a strong fort but also the key to keep the country united. Whoever is ashamed to say Jai Bhim cannot be a citizen of this country.

Rather than to see how much came into my account, it is important to see how much went out of the accounts of my children and grandchildren. Dialogue is the backbone of democracy. Democracy cannot survive if there is no right to express ideas; he also said.

In his presidential speech, Mr. Premanand Maurya, reviewed the work of the father of the Indian labour movement, Rao Bahadur Narayan Meghaji Lokhande and expressed optimism that the labour organization of Phule Ambedkar’s thoughts will lead the workers of the country.

The vote of thanks was given by the Central Vice President Dayanand Hadke. In the workers discussion seminar, all the branch office bearers presented a review of their branches. All the central office bearers presented their position regarding the future direction of the organization. The two-day convention concluded after the reading of the resolution and felicitation of the office bearers and workers.

Representatives from all the districts of the state participated in this convention in large numbers.
