
Gadchiroli July 16 (District Correspondent) District Collector Avishyant Panda has ordered immediate repair of roads damaged due to heavy rains and floods last week, and also warned that the relevant agencies will be held responsible if there is any delay in the work or accidents due to potholes on the roads.
He gave this warning in a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held under his chairmanship at the collectorate. SP Mr. Nilotpal, Superintendent Engineer of PWD Nita Thakre, Dy. RTO Kiran More, Executive Engineer of National Highways Rishikant Raut were present on the occasion.
Mr. Panda clarified that the repair of roads damaged due to rain should be done on a war footing and warned that if the PWD, National Highways Authority or any other agencies delays this work will be taken seriously and the responsibility for accidents will be placed on the concerned agency.
Speed breakers are necessary to control the speed of vehicles in front of schools along the main road asking the officials to instal speed breakers and information boards.
He also directed to conduct another joint inspection to determine the accident-prone places, to remove encroachments from the main square of Gadchiroli city, Ashti and Armori.
Instructions were given to the District Surgeons to speed up the work of the trauma unit approved in Kurkheda so that accident victims get immediate treatment, to spread information about the government’s cashless treatment scheme up to Rs. 1.5 lakh.
Instructions were given to submit a report on heavy truck traffic, the issues of e-rickshaws, drunk and drive campaign, overspeed and speed checking. Mr. Panda asked to submit a proposal to prevent road accidents for 2025-26 from the District Planning Development Fund.
Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal gave instructions to install information boards and barricades at dangerous places.
The meeting was attended by District Surgeon Dr. Madhuri Kilnake, Executive Engineer of PWD Sakharwade, Assistant Transport Officer Ashok Jadhav, Deputy Engineer Sumit Mundada and others.
