Gadchiroli May 16 (District Correspondent) Alleging that the co- guardian minister of the district Ashish Jaiswal is inefficient to solve the issues of the district, the Congress leaders demanded that the Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis himself should spare two days’ time in a month for this district. Mr. Fadnavis himself chose to be the guardian minister of the district, they pointed out.

Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Namdev Kirsan and Congress District President Mahendra Brahmanawade raised this demand in a press conference held on Thursday evening at the Circuit house here.

District Congress Committee also demanded that compensation of Rs. 1 lakh per acre be given to paddy farmers and Rs. 2 lakh per acre to maize farmers for the crop loss caused by the wild elephants. The compensation given to farmers for damage to crops and materials in their fields by wild elephants in the district is very meagre, they pointed out.

Various other important issues in the district were also highlighted during the press conference. The Congress has always been drawing attention of the government towards the damage caused by tigers and elephants and has been organizing protests from time to time to ensure proper management to prevent loss of life and damage caused by these animals. But the government has not been able to find a solution to it, alleged Bramhanwade.

The bonus of Rs. 20,000 per hectare announced for paddy has not reached the farmers as yet. The subsidy for irrigation wells of farmers has also not been given. Therefore, the question was raised whether the government is really in the interest of farmers or not.

Just on the eve of the monsoon season, the state government announced a new sand policy. But now, whether the construction of the gharkuls and other houses will be done in the monsoon season, asked Dr. Kirsan and questioned the government’s intentions. He expressed the hope that the farmers should be taken into confidence while acquiring agricultural land for projects to be carried out in the district.

Crores of rupees are being spent on the repair of the Gadchiroli-Armori National Highway alone. But why is the permanent construction of this road not being done, Dr. Kirsan asked.

State Secretary of Youth congress Adv. Vishwajit Kovase, District youth Congress chief Nitesh Rathod, City congress chief Satish Vidhate, senior worker    Prabhakar Vasekar, Milind Khobragade, Vasant Raut and other office bearers were present at the press conference.
