Gadchiroli Dec. 3 (District Correspondent) Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) district branch staged a protest agitation in front of the Zilla Parishad here on Monday for pressing up the demands of Anganwadi workers and helpers.
The Anganwadi workers and helpers shouted slogans in support of their demands during the agitation and attracted the attention of the administration. Supreme Court gave an important decision that gratuity should be given to Anganwadi workers, which should be implemented immediately, the government of Maharashtra should should give the class 3 and 4 status to Anganwadi workers and helpers as per Ahmedabad High Court of Gujarat’s decision.
Rs 2000 announced as a Diwali gift for the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers should be given immediately. The charges of Rs 50 announced for filling up the forms of Ladki Bahin Yojna should be paid soon, Rs 2100 should be given as announced in the Ladki Bahini scheme were the other demands. A memorandum of demands addressed to the Chief Minister was submitted to the Chief Executive Officer by a delegation of the workers.
While the protest was going on, Mr. Ramdas Masram, newly elected MLA of Armori Assembly constituency, visited the protest and assured that he would try for raising the said demands with the government.
This protest was attended by more than 1200 Anganwadi workers and helpers from the district. Prof. Rameshchandra Dahivade, Com. Amol Maarkwar led the agitation. Mr. Rajesh Pinjarkar, Sharda Lengure, Lalita Chaudhari, Vimal Gawde, Sushila Karnawar, Sandhya Khanke, Surekha Titre, Pranita Landge, Shobha Rahulkar, Vandana Jiwane, Sunanda Bavane, Vithabai Bhat, Maya Shedmake, Mayabai Nainurwar, Lalita Kedar, Villi Tijare and others took pains for the agitation.
