A view of pollution caused by crackers.

Gadchiroli Oct. 26 (District Correspondent) Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS) has called upon the people to celebrate pollution free Diwali.

In a statement issued here the MANS has said that actually, the invention of firecrackers was made in China. Bursting of crackers has started in India since last few years. Before that, Diwali festival in India was being celebrated as the festival of lights but we accepted the Chinese culture unknowingly.

Firecrackers emit toxic gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, tar particles, oxides of phosphorus. The atmosphere is polluted by the formation of oxides of different chemical substances from coloured firecrackers. Lung and heart diseases are caused. The number of birds, cattle, some small animals is decreasing due to changes in their living conditions, said the statement.

Loss of biodiversity is visible. Air and water pollution is polluted on a large scale. Body parts are also burnt while bursting firecrackers. Moreover, noise pollution is on a large scale. The huge sound also causes heart attacks. Small babies need to be kept away from noise pollution. Every year there are records of fires in firecracker factories. Many workers die in those accidents.

This year, the government has decided to take strict measures to control noise pollution. His Majesty. A ban has been ordered on the manufacture of firecrackers above 80 decibels. We can celebrate Diwali without bursting firecrackers and instead we can buy toys, give gifts, help the poor, buy books, give gifts to friends, neighbours etc.

Let’s celebrate pollution free Diwali, appealed State Coordinator Vilas Nimbokar, Advisor Dr. Shivnath Kumbhare, Pandit Pudke, Devaji Sontakke, Vice President Principal Choparam Kamble, Prin. C.L.
