Gadchiroli March 19 (District Correspondent) The Akhil Bhartiya Bhikku Sangha and the Buddhist followers from Wadsa Desaiganj area took out a huge morcha on the office of the Sub Divisional Officer of Wadsa on Wednesday to press the demand of restoring the Bodh Gaya Buddha Vihahara to the Buddhists.

The morcha that was led by Bhante Karuna buddha Jyoti Mahathero started from Deeksha Bhumi of Wadsa holding Panchasheel flags and banners in their hands and proceeded to the SDO office winding through main roads of the city including Fawwara Chouk, market area. The participants shouted slogans in support of their demands and attracted the attention of the government towards the issue.

A memorandum of demands addressed to the President of India was then submitted to the SDO by a delegation of the morchaists. The Bodh Gaya Temple Management Act should be amended immediately and the Buddha Vihara be handed over to the Buddhists, were the main demands of this morcha.

The SDO assured the delegation to forward this memorandum to the President of India’s office.

Those prominently present in the morcha were Bhadant Mahamogalayan Thero, Bhadant Charudatta, Bhadant Bhagirath, Bhadant Kunal Kirti, Bhadant Som, Sajan Meshram, Vivek Fulzele, Atul Shende, Shilpkar Sondawle, Nitin Bankar, Suraj Lingayat, Dhanpal Ghutke, Pawan Gedam, Chandramani Chandankhede, Praveen Ramteke besides a large number of Buddhist followers.

Immediately after the morcha the Buddhist monks launched their hunger strike in front of the SDO office. The fast will continue till March 22 next, informed Bhante Karuna Buddha Jyoti.
