
Gadchiroli May 13 (District Correspondent) Buddha’s Dhamma is aimed at the welfare of the entire mankind and the universe. The messages and sermons of humanity preached by Buddha are still relevant. Gautam Buddha created the ideal of friendship and showed the path of peace. The entire philosophy of Buddha is based on humanity, asserted senior leader of the Buddhist Society of India Prof. Dr. R.R. Kasbe.
He was speaking on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti that was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium by the district unit of Buddhist Society of India on Monday evening.
The program was presided over by the District President of the BSI Tularam Raut, while Bhante Dhammarakshit Thero, Central Teacher Subhash Bondade, General Secretary of BSI Prof. Gautam Dange were present as the chief guests.
Speaking further on the topic “Dhamma and Humanity”, Dr. Kasbe said that Gautam Buddha, considering human beings as the centre, preached humanity through the Panchasheel and the Eight-Fold Path. Humanity is the centre of Buddha’s Dhamma and one should live according to Buddha’s thoughts.
Mr. Subhash Bondade also guided on the topic of “Appreciation of the Four Qualities of Buddha elaborating on the different values of the human welfare prescribed in the Buddhism.
At the outset, the dignitaries present offered garlands to the statues of Lord Gautam Buddha and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Bhante Dhammarakshit Thero recited Trisharan- Panchasheel. Shramner Sariputta, Shramner Ashok, and Shramner Anand expressed their experiences of the Shramner training.
One should study deep into the Dhamma. One should live according to the thoughts of Dhamma, asserted District President Tularam Raut in his presidential speech. He assured to continue the Dhamma work through the Buddhist Society of India.
The trainee Bhantes of the Shramner Sangh were prominently present at the program. Dr. Ujwala Shende offered the Kheer Daan and Gautami Women’s Self-Help Group provided drinking water. Women’s Samata Sainik Dal from village Sakha looked after the arrangements.
Students of The Buddhist International School led by Principal Ajay Sahare performed two beautiful dances based on Buddha that were directed by Ms. Pradnya Nimgade, Karuna Undirwade and Sachin Khandare.
The program was moderated by Prof. Gautam Dange, Mr. Moreshwar Ambade made an introductory speech, Suryabhan Ghutke introduced the guests and Lahu Ramteke thanked the attendees.
The members of various social organizations, Buddha Viharas, office bearers of the BSI Mahasabha took pains for the programme that was largely attended.
