Gadchiroli Jan. 8 (District Correspondent) Mr. Balasubramaniam Prabhakaran, Managing Director of Lloyds Metal & Energy was honoured with ‘Gadchiroli Gaurav Award’ by Gadchiroli Press Club in an impressive ceremony held at the meeting hall of Cooperative Bank here on Saturday evening.
Minister of Food and Drug Administration Dharmarao Baba Atram, senior cooperative leader Arvind Saokar Poreddiwar, Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha MP Ashok Nete, MLAs Dr. Devrao Holi, Krishna Gajbe were the guests on the occasion. Press Club President Nandkishore Kathawate presided over the program.
Mr. Prabhakaran was felicitated by presenting a memento, shawl and bouquet at the hands of Mr. Atram and Poreddiwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhakaran said that the Surjagad Hills in Gadchiroli has the fine quality iron ore in the country. The modern technology and machineries will be used for the production from this ore that will help to achieve the development of the district and life of the tribals will be improved.
With the opening of the steel plant at Konsari, many subsidiary industries and business activities based on it will also come up in the due course of time in the district that will provide huge employment and means of financial income of the people here, Mr. Prabhakaran hoped. He called upon the people to cooperate in the functioning of the plant in the larger interest of the people.
As many as 40 youths are being sent for the advanced mining training to Australia and even the foreign University is willing to extend the necessary guidance to the local youths in the future. Many other youths also will be imparted training required for the plant, Prabhakaran said.
Mr. Prabhakaran attributed this award to the people of Gadchiroli saying ‘it is this award belongs to all the people of Gadchiroli and not to me alone.
Mr. Atram highly praised the initiative of Mr. Prabhakaran to start the industry in the backward district like Gadchiroli and assured state government’s full cooperation for its functioning. The state government is also considering a proposal to start the Mining Corporation for Gadchiroli District, he declared.
Mr. Nete said the blot of no industries district on the face of Gadchiroli has been wiped out with this industry and it will bring a new era of prosperity to the people here. Mr. Poreddiwar said it’s really great to have an industrial leader like Prabhakaran in the district that will pave way to the change of the very picture of the area.
Mr. Kathwate said the Press Club has been honoured with the acceptance of its award by Mr. Prabhakaran. Considering his contribution to the development of the district, he has been selected for the award, he told.
Prof. Anil Dhamode made an introductory speech, Milind Umre conducted the programme and Nilesh Patle proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of people from different walks of life attended the programme.
