Gadchiroli Sept. 11 (District Correspondent) Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti had organized a program at village Jambiya Gatta to create awareness about witchcraft in association with Police Station Gatta.
Police Patil Ramaji Hichami presided, while Avinash Biswas, Chetan Hichami, Mangesh Usendi were present as guests. Mr. Nagnath Jawle, In-Charge of Police Station Gatta, Ramchandra Mohite, PSI, Roshan Lal, Inspector of Police CRPF, Senior ANIS activist Vilas Nimbokar, Working President Vitthalrao Kothare, Govindrao Brahmanwade, Upendra Rohankar were also present prominently.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vilas Nimborkar said that there is no such thing as ghost, bhanmati, karni in the world. Some people just make a show to exploit the innocent people out of grid. Villagers should be aware and keep themselves away from such elements, he appealed.
We have given a challenge to prove these things but for the past thirty-five years no one has come forward to accept this call. He further said that if the lives of people could have been taken by mantra and witchcraft, there would have been no need of weapons. If there is any doubt about any person, file a complaint with the police, he appealed. Mr. Nimborkar assured to organize such awareness programmes in rural areas.
Mr. Vitthalrao Kothare and Upendra Rohankar gave some demonstrations based on miracles to show that all these miracles are not done by mantra or divine power but by manual skill and chemical substances.
Mr. Jawle informed about the Anti-Witchcraft Act 2013 saying the punishment of 7 years and a fine of 50,000 rupees will be imposed on the persons indulged in witchcraft. He assured to continue to cooperate to keep the atmosphere of the village peaceful.
The program was coordinated by Mr. Govindrao Brahmanwade. A large number of villagers attended the programme.
