Gadchiroli Sept. 19 (District Correspondent) A three-day bit-level sports meet began on Wednesday at the Government Secondary Ashram School grounds in Potegaon under Integrated Tribal Development Project Gadchiroli. As many as 524 tribal student players from 8 ashram schools of the project have participated in this meet which has been organized under the guidance of Assistant Collector and Project Officer Rahul Kumar Meena.
Assistant Police Inspector of Potegaon B. S. Kamble and Assistant Project Officer Anil Somankar lit the sports torch to mark the inauguration of the meet. Potegaon Sarpanch Archana Surpam presided. Medical Officer Dr. Sharda Kumre, PSI Gajanan Barge, Junior Extension Officer Mukesh Gedam, School Management Committee President Bandu Potavi, Ms. Kanta Halami, Jamgaon Sarpanch Devidas Madavi, Police Patil Sweety Gedam, Social Workers Vinod Madavi, Jyoti Alam, Dhanraj Damle, Principal Mangesh Brahmankar, Vishnu Chavan, Vandana Mahalle, Yashodhara Usendi, Anil Pawar, Women Project Sports Coordinator Pramila Dahagaonkar were present.
During the program, the boys and girls of Potegaon Ashram School performed a traditional tribal dance. In the age group of 19 years, the inaugural Kabaddi match of boys was played between Pendhari and Gatta team. Pendhari team won the match.
A total of 524 players- 267 boys and 257 girls from eight ashram schools in the Karwafa, Potegaon Gadchiroli, Pendhari, Godalwahi and the government-aided and subsidized schools in Chandala, Girola, Gatta, are participating in the tournament. Along with team sports, handball, relay, long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, running are organized.
Ms. Shivani Usendi administered an oath to the players. Principal Mangesh Brahmankar introduced the program. Milind Nimgade administered the oath to the umpires and Meenal Shettewar thanked the audience.
For the success of the program Sports Inspector Subhash Lande, Publicity Head Sudhir Shende, Ravikant Pipre, Prof. Ajay Jadhav, Nilesh Kalamb, Sudhir Jhanjal, Pawan Meshram, Shobha Ramteke, Nitesh Neware, Virendra Kapse, Jayshree Ramgirwar, Ashwini Chalakh, Pallavi Meshram, Shubhangi Madavi, Lumbini Shambharkar, Anil Kurudkar, staff and students cooperated.
