Gadchiroli July 24 (District Correspondent) A hardcore Maoist Lachhu Kariya Tado, Party Member of Bhamragad LOS, Age-45 years and resident of Bhatpar village in Bhamragad has surrendered before Gadchiroli Police today.

Thanks to the effective implementation of the surrender policy, a total of 670 active Maoists till date have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police.

Since 2012-13, he has been living in the village as Jan militia. His tasks included bringing rations to the Maoists, performing sentry duty, hiding the Maoists’ weapons in secure locations, providing information to the Maoists about police movements, distributing Maoist pamphlets to the public, and undertaking other subversive activities, said the police here today.

Lachhu was recruited as member in Bhamragad LOS in 2023 and worked till today. In 2022, he was directly involved in the arson of 19 vehicles on a road construction site in Irapnar village. In 2023, he was involved in planting IED in Nelgunda forest area.

Maharashtra Government had announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakhs on Lachhu Kariya Tado. After surrender, he will receive Rs. 4.5 Lakhs as reward declared by the Central Government and Maharashtra Government for rehabilitation.

Due to the intensified anti-Maoist operations conducted by Gadchiroli Police, 22 hardcore Maoists have surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police from the year 2022 till date.

This action was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Sandip Patil, Special IG (ANO) Nagpur, Ankit Goyal, DIG, Gadchiroli Range, Ajay Kumar Sharma, DIG (Ops.) CRPF, Neelotpal, SP, Dao Enjirkan Kindo, Commdant of 37 Bn. CRPF.

Mr. Neelotpal, SP, Gadchiroli has assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to those willing to surrender and join the mainstream society, embracing the ways of democracy. Furthermore, he appealed to active Maoists to renounce the path of violence and adopt the path of peace and join the mainstream of society.
