Gadchiroli Feb. 22 (District Correspondent) Amhi Amchya Arogyasathi (AAA), a well-known voluntary organization of the district celebrated 41st anniversary with great enthusiasm at Rani Durgavati Training Centre, Yerandi in Kurkheda taluka recently.

The program was presided over by Shubhada Deshmukh. The chief guests of the event were Ms. Chhaya Datar, Senior Feminist Activist and Writer, Padmashri Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram, Senior Neuro Physician, Nagpur and Mr. Yajurvendra Mahajan, Founder, Deepstambh Foundation, Jalgaon, Dr. Satish Gogulwar, convener of the organization

Chhaya Datar shared her experience of being involved in the feminist movement since 1975. She highlighted important issues like the Special Marriage Act, 498 (A) Act against domestic violence etc.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram discussed the importance of prevention against brain diseases, which included mental and physical exercise, diet, and good sleep. Yajurvendra Mahajan, highlighted the work done for orphans and differently-abled persons. He said, people who keep learning, are the ones who move forward. Instead of depending on others, one should keep doing something on their own, he adviced.

In the program, Dr. Mukesh Shende was felicitated for obtaining his PhD on the subject of Forest-based livelihood in Korchi region’. Also, excellent government officials, Gram Sabhas, Savings Groups, Child Protection Committees, Anganwadi workers, women farmers, women leaders, male leaders, entrepreneurs, health workers, and individual gardeners who have been working closely with the organization were felicitated.

 

Exhibitions of the work being done through various projects under the organization were put up at the program venue. The program ended with a cultural program for the organization’s workers in the evening, in which everyone participated enthusiastically.

Ms. Chhaya Datar read out the preamble to the constitution. Dr. Mukesh Shende gave a detailed overview of the organization’s work. The program was conducted by Nidhi Dhurve and Vinod Bhoyar, while the vote of thanks was given by Uttara Chaure. The program was attended by about 125 people from Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, and Nagpur districts.
