The Anganwadi workers staging dharna agitation.

Gadchiroli July 13 (District Correspondent) A dharna agitation was staged in front of Gadchiroli Collector’s office by CITU affiliated Anganwadi Employees’ Association, taking up the burning issues of women workers at Anganwadis under the leadership of Mr. Amol Marakwar, district Secretary of ITUC.

A large number of Anganwadi workers and Helpers assembled in front of the collectorate and shouted slogans demanding to implement the pension along with fulfilling the promise regarding salary hike, implement the Supreme Court’s decision and implement gratuity scheme.

Despite the completion of 10 months of the government’s promise regarding these demands, the promise has not been fulfilled. Therefore, a warning was given during the agitation that this government will be shown its place in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Amol Marakwar expressed his anger that the government has given the responsibility of implementation of Ladki Bahin Yojana to the Anganwadi Workers, saying the same government will hold responsible these poor workers for the problems being faced like women not having bank accounts and others.

Ms. Ujwala Undirwade, Sarita Atram, Maya Nainurwar, Kalpana Bhosle, Ranjana Choukude, Bhagarata Dudhbaware, Archana Dhawale, Kaushalya Gaurkar, Vithabai Bhat, Yogita Munghate, Lalita Kedar, Rekha Jade, Chaya Ramteke, Sunanda Bavane and other workers worked hard to make this dharna agitation a success.
