Gadchiroli Feb. 24 (District Correspondent) The Anganwadi cooks will take out a morcha on the legislature at Mumbai for pressing up their long pending demand of an increase in their remuneration.

This has been informed by Mr. Krishna Chaudhari, leader of the Anganwadi cooks Union attached to Swatantra Mazdoor Union (SMU).

The Anganwadi cooks attached to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Amrit Aahar Yojana have been working on a nominal remuneration of only Rs. 1,000 per month for the last many years. Due to the meagre wages, they have to suffer undue financial and mental hardships as it has become difficult to make ends meet. Efforts are being made to draw the attention of the government and the administration to this problem. For this, agitations were staged by the Union.

However, the government has been completely ignoring the issue of increasing the monthly remuneration of these women. Therefore, in order to draw the attention of the government, it has been decided in a recently organized meeting, to organize a massive march in the upcoming session to be held at the Legislative Assembly in Mumbai in association with the Swatantra Mazdoor Union, told Mr. Chaudhari.

The report of the work of the cooks’ union was read out in the meeting. On this occasion, Mr. Krishna Chaudhary, District President of the Anganwadi Cooks Union, Ms. Dipali Bavanthade, Usha Dhurve, Anju Gedam, Sushila Kerami, Laxmi Kumoti, Sunita Gawde, Sandhya Lonbale, Sarita Gawde, Lata Dongarwar, Sunanda Madavi, Sanjeevani Sayam, Vaishali Madavi, Vaishali Narote, Priya Kamble and a large number of Anganwadi cooks from the district were present.
