Gadchiroli March 23 (District Correspondent) The cooks attached with Anganwadi Centres have demanded increase in their honorarium and payment of honorarium of the strike period.

A delegation of the cook’s union submitted a memorandum to the district collector in this regard through the sub divisional officer of Kurkheda the other day.

We have been working as cooks in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Amrit Ahar Yojna since 2015. Some of the women are widows and financially very poor. The per month honorarium of Rs. 1,000 is not at all affordable to us as they can’t make their livelihood on this meagre amount of money, said the memorandum.

We have been demanding the increase in our honorarium for the last many years but the government has been ignoring this and we have to face severe hardships, they further pointed out.

Our honorarium should therefore be increased immediately, demanded the memorandum finally. Ms, Geeta Uike, Sarita Gawde, Sangita Jale, Usha Dhurwe, Asha Gedam, Pushpa Pada, Lalita Dongarwar, Priyanka Kasankar, Mamta Nakade and other women cooks were present while submitting the memorandum.
