Gadchiroli May 13 (District Correspondent) Asha and Group Promoters meet was held at the Panchayat Samiti Hall of Bhamragad by AITUC recently. The meet was inaugurated at the hands of District President of ITUC Com. Vinod Zodge. Mr. Prashant Dange, Rajni Pungati, Pushpa Tanse, Sunita Ajmera, Vaishali Mogre, Shalu Kursame, Kirti Bhandekar were prominently present.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Zodge said that since September 2018, the Central Government has not increased the remuneration of Asha workers and group promoters, and even after important services were provided by them during the Corona period. The Gram Panchayats and Nagar Panchayats also have not paid the outstanding remuneration from March 2020 to October 22, he pointed out.
It is therefore necessary to launch a big fight against the Central Government for the increase in remuneration. After retirement, Asha workers and group promoters should get Rs 5 lakh gratuity, Rs 10,000 monthly pension and Rs 2,000 Diwali bonus and these workers should be given the status of government employees, Zodge demanded.
The Mahayuti government is keeping a difference in honorarium to weaken the movement of ASHA workers and group promoters. Its repercussions are being felt throughout the state and the state government will have to face its consequences in the future, he warned. The central and the state government are implementing new labour laws, which will pose great threats to the workers and it is necessary for the workers to fight against this anti-labour policy of the governments in an organized manner under the leadership of AITC, Zodge stated.
Taluka president Chhaya Shedmake appealed to everyone to participate in the state convention of AITUC to be held at Gondiya on April 27 and 28 next.
The gathering was moderated by Taluka Secretary Bhumika Kamble and the vote of thanks was given by Manda Zade. Hundreds of ASHA Workers and group promoters from the taluka attended the meet.
